Love by The Beatles
Despite trepidations by die hard Beatles fans, George and Giles Martin took a risk by “tweaking” several of The Beatles best known and loved songs.
Originally, the newly remixed songs would be featured in the newest Cirque Du Soleil show “The Beatles: Love”, which is currently being run at the Mirage in Las Vegas. However, it was decided that the newly reworked songs should be put in album form.
The album consists of 26 tracks, and all together the elements of 36 songs. Most of the songs have been left alone, apart from making the sound fuller and richer, making the instruments (especially any backing instruments) stronger and more prominent. The remaining songs are combined into smaller snippets, to form “new” songs.
Overall, the album is good. With a band such as The Beatles, it’s difficult to embrace something new such as this album. The Beatles were such a pivotal band in their day and it’s rare to find someone who does not like at least one of their songs, let alone not know who The Beatles were. So, because of the love people have for this band, the album might have been a total flop. But it seems that this album is being embraced.
There needs only one word to sum up this album, and that word is Love.
