In Treatment

There’s a new series on HBO called In Treatment.  I’m not sure how long it’s been on-or it’s normal television schedule.  I just happened to come across it recently On Demand and so far I’ve watched about three episodes.  It seems though, that the show is on several times a week (four or five perhaps) and it follows the therapy sessions each patient.

The show is very minimalistic.  The entire show consist of the therapist and the patient.  There’s very little action, instead, the show depends on the dialog between the patient and the therapist.  There doesn’t seem to be the need for action though-the stories the characters weave, the the way they tell their stories is enough.  All you need to get involved is good listening skills and a strong sense of imagination.

The show touches on adult topics and language-but it doesn’t seem overwhelmingly so.  I was very relieved that  thus far the therapist is very professional (if you catch my drift).

The show probably isn’t for everyone-but it’s a very refreshing change by the mind numbing reality tv crap that’s taking over the tv today.  If you have HBO-at least give this show a shot.

You can watch the first episode here (warning: some adult content)
